Poet kerry rawlinson has had a remarkable 2024 so far, with a series of prestigious accolades and publications recognizing her distinctive poetic voice. Most recently, Rawlinson won the New Millennium Writings Poetry Prize for her poem "Tomorrow, A Different Universe..."—a powerful piece that showcases her signature blend of clarity, imagination, and emotional depth.
Her poetic momentum continued with "winter mists" being selected for the Haiku Crush Annual Best Haiku Anthology 2024, and "In the Eastern Townships, Québec" winning the Canterbury Poet of the Year Contest 2024. In addition, her poem "cygnet notes" was shortlisted and published in the Heroica Contest 2024, adding to her growing list of accomplishments.
Rawlinson also published a trio of poems—"Starlight," "Why," and "Sunday Cutlery"—in the first issue of Low Hanging Fruit, where her lyricism and quiet wit found a welcome home. These poems exemplify her unique ability to distill everyday observations into resonant, finely crafted verse.
A self-described "mental nomad & bloody-minded optimist," rawlinson's journey has taken her from the sun-drenched skies of Zambia to the grounded terrain of Canada. Her work has been recognized across a broad spectrum of literary institutions, including the Princemere Poetry Prize (winner, 2024), Proverse Press, and Fish Poetry Prizes (honorable mentions), as well as placements in Bridport, Room, Canterbury, the National Poetry Society, and Palette Poetry.
Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in an array of respected journals and platforms, including League of Canadian Poets, Pinhole, Touchstone Literary Magazine, Novus Lit, Passager, UCity Review, Drunk Monkeys, Wild Roof Journal, Suburban Review, Grain, and Rochford St. Review.
Still wandering "barefoot through dislocation and belonging," kerry rawlinson continues to captivate readers around the world with her thoughtful, evocative writing—and, as she says, still drinks too much (tea).
