Pasadena, CA – February 14, 2025 – Low Hanging Fruit, the independent literary magazine known for amplifying bold voices in contemporary literature, is launching a special War & Resistance Digimag to raise funds for VOSTOK SOS, a volunteer initiative assisting victims of military aggression in eastern Ukraine and Crimea. This digital issue will feature poetry, short fiction, essays, and visual art that confront the realities of war, highlight acts of resilience, and advocate for peace, with all proceeds directly supporting humanitarian aid efforts.
The upcoming digimag aims to shed light on the human cost of war through diverse artistic perspectives, offering a platform for writers and artists to express resistance, remembrance, and hope. Low Hanging Fruit invites creators from around the world to submit original work that explores themes of displacement, survival, and the impact of conflict on individuals and communities.
“Literature and art have always played a crucial role in resistance movements and historical reckoning,” says Kalvin Madsen, founder and editor of Low Hanging Fruit. “This project is our way of using storytelling to both document and push back against the violence that continues to reshape lives.”
VOSTOK SOS provides critical aid to those affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine, helping with evacuations, shelter, humanitarian aid distribution, and psychological support. By purchasing the War & Resistance Digimag, readers will directly contribute to these efforts, offering relief to those in urgent need.
The Low Hanging Fruit War & Resistance Digimag is set for release on March 6, 2025. Submissions are now open, and the magazine welcomes contributions from both emerging and established artists and writers.
